LOS ANGELES — More than 50 people living at a high-profile encampment on the west side were offered shelter on Tuesday through Mayor Karen Bass' Inside Safe program.
The encampment, which is along Venice boulevard underneath the 405 freeway, has been the scene of violence, shootings, crime and fires.
Nearby businesses have sued the city over a lack of action. Officials say clearing out this encampment has been challenging because of the numerous jurisdictions involved, including Culver City, Los Angeles’s District 5, and Los Angeles’s District 11.
Housing advocates are worried that some people might be displaced, depending on the type of housing they’re offered and where it’s located.
