LOS ANGELES — The Department of Public Health confirmed a traveler tested positive for measles after flying into LAX on the day before Thanksgiving.

In the following days, doctors warned the community that anyone who can get vaccinated should do so.

Over the years, Dr. Christina Nguyen at St. John's Community Health Clinic said she's seen increased vaccine hesitancy, fatigue and misinformation, which is why she says there have been more outbreaks.

The LA County County Department of Public Health is warning travelers who were in Terminal B the day before Thanksgiving, or on Qatar Airways flight QR 0736, that they may have been exposed.

Nguyen said measles are extremely contagious and symptoms include high fever, cough, runny nose and rashes.

"So there is a huge cause for concern," she said. "So again, it's about making sure you get your vaccinations, your children get vaccinated, you're protecting yourself, your family and the community. If you know that you have, or possibly have the infection, you should isolate yourself immediately and call your healthcare provider."
