LOS ANGELES — For over a year and a half, radio personality Kayla Thomas concealed her lupus diagnosis, fearing that it might change how people perceived her abilities.

However, as she continued to captivate her listeners with her infectious energy, she realized the potential of her platform to make a difference. Lupus, which affects an estimated 1.5 million Americans, often remains invisible, with symptoms that can range from pain and fatigue to cognitive issues.

Kayla’s decision to share her journey is driven by the desire to let others with lupus know that they are not alone. This weekend, Kayla will lead a team and co-host the Lupus Foundation of America’s “Walk to End Lupus Now,” an event aimed at raising awareness and vital funds for lupus research and support.

With chapters and walks nationwide, the organization works tirelessly to improve treatments and offer support for lupus patients.
