LOS ANGELES — Thousands of people made their way to LA’s City Hall Saturday as part of a nationwide effort to protect abortion rights.
The “Bans Off Our Bodies” rallies were planned months ago but gained a sense of urgency after a leaked draft opinion indicated the U.S. Supreme Court is poised to overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 law that made abortion legal.
Katie Villegas, a history teacher from La Crescenta, brought her 8-year-old daughter, Siena. “I don’t think it’s fair that she’s going to have less rights in the future than I have rights now,” she said.
