ALHAMBRA, Calif. — In the late 1970s to mid-1980s, hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese immigrants came to the U.S. in the wake of the Vietnam war, and many set up family restaurants.

One family's daughter is making good on a promise she made to her parents: to give them the peace of mind they’ve never had before.

Hanli Su's parents owned and operated a pho restaurant in Gardena, where she watched them struggle to make ends meet. So when she graduated from college, she opened a second restaurant in Alhambra just for them, called Pho Ever, where her parents don’t have to worry about making ends meet and instead can flex their creative muscles.
