BUENA PARK, Calif. — A school in the Buena Park school district has a vending machine — but it’s not offering snacks.

The vending machine at Pendleton Elementary School is full of things to nourish the minds of students.

Students set academic goals, and when they reach them, they earn a gold coin to use in the “book” vending machine.
