LOS ANGELES — The lush lawns and trees at Weddington Golf and Tennis in Studio City make up one of the last few green spaces along the Los Angeles River, that’s open to the public.

Residents who have grown used to walking, bicycling or golfing in the area, are voicing their concerns over Harvard-Westlake’s plans to redevelop the 16-acre site into a state-of-the-art athletics facility for its students and the surrounding community.

The school says they are still offering to build a green space along with their sports complex, and they promise to plant new trees on the site, but residents want the project to either be rejected or scaled down.
