LOS ANGELES — Children at California Creative Learning Academy in Glassell Park are learning to compost through a new program at their school.

It’s a program started by Emily Spokes, a parent and environmental activist, who is also a dedicated composter.

All students have to do is separate their food into bins, which also helps the school comply with Senate Bill 1383, a statewide effort to cut down on food waste.
