LOS ANGELES — The Regency Village Theater (formerly the Fox Theater, Westwood Village) and The Fox Bruin Theater were both managed by Regency Theaters, but as the leases expired, both theaters have closed their doors to business for the foreseeable future.
The Fox Theater, built in 1931 in a Spanish Colonial Modern style by architect Percy Parke Lewis, hosted many Hollywood premieres over its history and was designated by the Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission as a Historic-Cultural Monument in 1988.
While the fate of the Bruin remains uncertain, a consortium of investors from Hollywood's A-list including Steven Spielberg, Christopher Nolan, Chloé Zhao and Jason Reitman have agreed to buy, restore and reopen the Fox Theater.
