LOS ANGELES — Built in 1940 as the Crest movie house, the UCLA Nimoy Theater, which will be operated by UCLA Center for the Art of Performance, will now be a live performance space for multidisciplinary arts.
The multimillion dollar renovation was made possible by a major gift from Susan Bay Nimoy whose late husband — actor, director and philanthropist Leonard Nimoy — is the theater’s namesake.
“The Nimoy” will open its doors for a public open house on Sunday with live performances from artists, including Las Cafeteras. It will begin its first season starting on Sept. 23.
