EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Director and writer Gigi Gaston joined “Your News” to give insight to her new adventure thriller “9 Bullets.”

Gaston’s new film stars actors Lena Headey, Sam Worthington and Dean Vasquez.

The film is based on Gypsy Rose Lee, a burlesque dancer that Gaston said was a friend of her mother’s while she was a child.

“I remember when I was sitting on her lap,” Gaston said. “She said to me ‘Gigi, the most important thing, see all those men out there, they only see this, but what’s most important is this and never forget it,” Gaston continued.

She was referring to men only seeing women for their body, but what is actually important is a woman’s mind.

This inspired Gaston to center the film on second chances in life and actually named the main character “Gypsie” played by “Game of Thrones” actress Lena Headey.

Heady plays a burlesque dancer who is trying to find herself as she goes on the run to protect her neighbor’s son, Sam, from her ex-lover.

Gaston said she was impressed with her team’s discovery of the talented child actress Dean Scott Vazquez, playing the role of Sam.

“He’s the greatest American story… he’s a kid from immigrants and now he’s going to make it big time,” she said.

Gaston hopes the film will allow people to seek their second chance no matter the circumstances.

“All I can tell you is I think it’s a movie that will touch people’s hearts,” Gaston said.
