Late, great R&B legend, Barry White is being remembered by his back-up singers, ex-wife Glodean White, and her sister, Linda Hunziker, with a new holiday album. The new Christmas album, A Romantic Evening For The Holidays by Glodean and Linda, is dedicated to the late soul superstar. White's legacy lives on with some of his favorite holiday classics.
Five Things You Need to Know:
- Barry White was a two-time Grammy Award–winner, known for his distinctive bass-baritone voice and romantic image. Two of his greatest hits include, "You're the First, the Last, My Everything" and "Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe." White died at age 58.
- White's back-up singers and former wife, Glodean White and her sister Linda Hunziker, were with the singer from the beginning. Their duo act flourished after his death and they both say he would be proud of the project.
- Hopefully this is meant as an endearing title, but due to his large frame, impressive facial hair, and deep voice, White was given the nickname, "The Walrus of Love."
- White recorded 19 studio albums during the course of his career, multiple versions and compilations were released worldwide that were certified gold, 41 of which also attained platinum status. White had 20 gold and 10 platinum singles, with worldwide record sales in excess of 100 million records, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
- Glodean White and Hunziker still perform as the "Love Unlimited," but say their loyalty will always be with Barry White, telling us "every now and then, we’ll get the urge and want to hear some Barry White, we’ll hear Barry White before we listen to Love Unlimited, cause we’re on every album he did."
