We caught up with Guardians of the Galaxy co-star Michael Rooker to talk about his new romantic action film, Love And Monsters and to get a brutally honest answer as to why he chooses the roles he does. Rooker co-stars in the new indie hit resonating with Video-on-Demand and theater-goers.

The veteran actor opened up about why money isn't the most important thing when it comes to accepting a project.

Five Things You Need to Know:

  1. Love And Monsters is described as a comedy adventure in a monster-infested world. A love-hearted guy learns his girlfriend is just 80 miles away. To make the dangerous journey, he needs helps and lots of courage.
  2. Rooker has been featured in Eight Men Out, Sea of Love, Days of Thunder, JFK, Cliffhanger, and AMC's The Walking Dead. He played Yondu Udonta in Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
  3. Rooker lives in California, and is married with two daughters. He holds a black belt in Kyokushin style karate.
  4. Prior to becoming an actor, he worked as a lifeguard, a CTA bus driver, a janitor, and a Chicago Park District athletic instructor.
  5. Rooker has certain standards before he signs on to a movie, telling Spectrum News; "There’s basic stuff that every actor that the agents deal with, that kind of stuff, all the boxes being checked off. There’s personal boxes sometimes, like who wants to work with jerks? I mean come on, I mean money is money, but who wants to spend three, four months, six months of your life dealing with someone who is constantly grinding at your nerves? So that’s not cool. So these days, I really like to get a good feel of who the people are, the other actors, producers, line producers, everyone."
