Orange Is the New Black star Taylor Schilling goes dark in the new eight episode Hulu anthology series, Monsterland.
The series is described as interwoven stories about broken people driven to desperate acts.
- Each episode tells its own individual story named after the place it is set, though some characters have cameos in other episodes to show they're all in the same timeline. While every episode includes an unusual creature from a myth or urban legend, the underlying themes of family, betrayal, love, envy, greed, and guilt drive home the horror.
- Hulu touts the series like this: It explores the blurred lines between monsters and humans. In many of the stories, it is the people the monsters encounter that are creepy, not the monsters themselves.
- Taylor Schilling is featured in episode five. She is best known for her role as Piper Chapman on the Netflix original comedy-drama series Orange Is the New Black.
- Schilling’s big screen movies include, Atlas Shrugged: Part I in 2011, the romantic drama, The Lucky One in 2012, and the 2017 comedy Take Me. In 2018, she was featured in the science fiction thriller The Titan.
- While Schilling was attempting to break into acting, she supported herself by working as a nanny for a Manhattan-based family.
