In his new HBO-MAX series, The Pursuit of Happiness, actor Ravi Patel of Meet the Patels travels to Denmark, South Korea, Japan and Mexico to find out about how other cultures and people find happiness and deal with stress.
5 Things You Need to Know:
- The 41-year-old Patel never found an Indian wife, as was explored in his well-received "documentary, Meet the Patels. Instead, he married American actress Mahaley Patel. The couple has one daughter named Amelie.
- Before and after making The Pursuit of Happiness, Patel said he "enjoys figuring out ways to make each day better. I’m a sucker for any sort of happiness fad, whether it’s a cleanse or gratefulness journey, I do all those things and I’m equally prone to the relapses of all my bad habits, all of which has occurred during the pandemic."
- A poker player, Patel uses the analogy of playing cards to being in the "biz", saying: "Working in entertainment is like being a poker player for a living. You can get great at poker but you can not control the hand and other players. You rely quite a bit on other people and you rely quite of bit on luck. So you are lucky to be sitting at the table. All I control is the way I approach things, I try my hardest and try my hardest that I get to do it. That way I never have to worry if I reach the top of the mountain."
- Patel is the co-founder of This Bar Saves Lives, which donates a meal packet for every granola bar they sell. He is also an active investor in start-ups in the health and wellness sector.
- Up next, you'll be able to see Patel in Wonder Women 1984 and an upcoming drama called Butter.
