LOS ANGELES (CNS) — Christopher Nolan's Tenet continued to perform well in its second weekend on international movie screens, grossing $78.3 million in 46 countries to lead all films, according to industry estimates released Sunday.

Analysts are closely watching the performance of the thriller starring John David Washington, the first major international Hollywood release since theaters shut down in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. It has grossed $146 million since last weekend.

Tenet is also being released in large-screen IMAX theaters, where it made $11.1 million Friday through Sunday on 1,168 screens in 43 markets, according to the industry tracking group Comscore.

The film is also playing in select theaters in the United States, where it earned $2.8 million on 272 IMAX screens.

Movie theaters in Los Angeles County remain closed indefinitely, but Orange County is hoping to reopen its theaters with limited capacity this week.

Meanwhile, The New Mutants made an estimated $2.87 million in its second weekend at North American theaters for a total of $11.6 million.

Words On Bathroom Walls, based on the novel by Julia Walton and released by LD Entertainment and Roadside Attractions, earned an estimated $286,370 Friday through Sunday on 1,168 screens, Comscore reported.

Searchlight Pictures' The Personal History of David Copperfield earned $361,000 in its second weekend for a total of $1.02 million.

Unhinged, a violent thriller starring Russell Crowe, grossed $1.67 million in its third weekend in North American theaters for a total of $11.3 million.

Paramount's The Spongebob Movie: Sponge On The Run, which is playing in Canada only, earned $345,000 at 304 locations in its fourth weekend for a cumulative total of $3.54 million.
