HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — A Long Beach teenager is getting big recognition with the help of Disney and Marvel thanks to her animal activism.

Genesis Butler, 13, loves animals. She became a vegan at age six. Online she crusades for animals and she gave her own TED talk when she was just 10.

In Sacramento, Genesis lobbies for bills like SB 1138, which provides for plant-based meal options in places like hospitals and prisons.

She was recently chosen for Marvel’s Hero Project. It’s a new reality series on Disney+. Twenty kids from around the country were selected for their passion and accomplishments.

This casting enables her to bring her cause to a much wider audience.

“I thought of how much of an impact this would make and help animals, so I want to do whatever I can to help the animals,” said Genesis.

Even though filming has wrapped, the work is far from finished.

Genesis continues raising money for animal sanctuaries across Southern California.
