LOS ANGELES — Parents at Topanga Elementary Charter School are hoping lower than usual enrollment this year won't cause them a teacher.

LAUSD participates in Norm Day every year, which is when the district uses student enrollment numbers to reallocate staff to fit school needs. This sometimes leads to staffing cuts and re-shuffling of classes, which is what parents are afraid will happen.

Those parents who participated in the rallies say the community faced various natural disasters in the past year that had an impact on that lower enrollment and hope parents will sign up their kids before it is too late.
