ANAHEIM, Calif. — Anaheim Elementary School District Superintendent Christopher Downing is retiring next year after spending 35 years working in public education. 

Downing is only the second African American superintendent in the district's history, something that inspires both his fellow educators and students on campuses across Anaheim.
