SANTA ANA, Calif. — For students like Cesar Moscoso, a fifth grader at Heninger Elementary School, coming to class is the highlight of their day.
However, whether he’s learning or playing outdoors, memories of his parents linger in his thoughts.
It’s been three years since he last saw his mother and father. They remain in El Salvador after an unsuccessful attempt to immigrate to the U.S.
Moscoso’s story is one of many students at the school, inspiring his classmates to create the film “Apart.”
The story follows the journey of a young boy, Juan and his friend, as the two raise funds to buy Juan’s mother a ticket to California from Texas. Moscoso played the role of the friend in the film.
The film was put together with the help of Creating Creators, a company that partners up with schools to inspire K-12 education through filmmaking.
