COMPTON, Calif. — Some students feel like the heat is inescapable. Local schools are moving quickly to cope with extremely high temperatures, while the California governor and state Legislature work on solutions involving more plants.

Not all classrooms across the state have air conditioning. Alternative solutions to combat the heat include window tinting, chilled water dispensers, limiting outdoor time and increasing vegetation on campus.
