OXNARD, Calif. — The "woah," the "dougie," and the "nae-nae" aren't the typical words heard in every elementary school classroom. 

However, for some of the Ventura County schools including Rio Del Mar, hearing those terms is a normal, everyday occurrence thanks to a local organization called Hip Hop Mindset.

Hip Hop Mindset brings dance classes into the school day. What began with just one instructor teaching one weekly class in 2015 has turned into seven, teaching nearly 80 classes a week. 

The goal is to inspire confidence in the young kids, teaching them to explore and communicate through dance. 

"[They learn] to express themselves and have fun with their friends," said Mark Espiritu, one of several instructors for Hip Hop Mindset. "It also teaches them discipline."
