The merchandise will be divided into three collections—one inspired by the ride and the other two inspired by the TRON films.
Some of the items available for purchase include T-shirts, jackets, hats, tumblers and a customizable action figure with a visitor’s face and voice.
“Here we take you a user, and we give you the opportunity to digitize yourself into a program or action figure,” said Taryn Johnson, senior manager for brand merchandizing with global product creation.
To custom the action figure, a computer will scan the visitors facial features, which will show up on the LCD screen on the toy. Visitors can also record six lines of dialogue and customize the figure’s look with different colors and helmets.
Each figure will come with an arcade cabinet-style packaging. The experience, located in the Tomorrowland Launch Depot near the entrance to TRON, is priced at $89.99 plus tax.
Reservations for the experience open March 21 and can be booked online.
The action figure is part of what Disney is calling the TRON Identity Program, a new retail experience that allows visitors to customize other merchandise.
“What’s really great about this experience though is that it’s not limited just to the customization of a single figure,” Johnson said. “You can take that unique character chip that inside your action figure and use it to “reprogram” additional products, including an RC Lighcycle racer and our TRON Identity disc, which doubles as a toy and Bluetooth speaker.”
With the “Back to the Arcade” collection, visitors will find merchandise that pays tribute to the original 1982 “TRON” film, including a backpack inspired by Flynn’s Arcade and vintage toys.
In addition to the Tomorrowland Launch Depot, select merchandise will also be available at a specialty pop-up shop across from Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor.
