NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — The latest edition of Southern California’s landmark arts event, PST ART, returns with more than 70 exhibitions from museums and other institutions across the region, all exploring art and science, both past and present. And one exhibit is just steps from the sand at Crystal Cove State Park.

It’s called “Mare Liberum, Reimagined” on display in Historic Cottage #46 through Jan. 19, 2025.

Visual artists Marek Ranis and Maja Godlewska explain what they hope the kelp forest like surroundings recreated through hand painted fabric and virtual reality goggles inspires visitors to do.

In tandem with Transformative Currents, Crystal Cove Conservancy will present special events in celebration of PST ART: Art & Science Collide. The art event happens every five years.
