LOS ANGELES — Deaf West Theatre and The LA Phil, under the musical direction of Gustavo Dudamel, present a re-imagined “Fidelio,” where each character is performed by both a hearing singer and a deaf actor using sign language.

“Fidelio” was first performed in 1805, as Beethoven was grappling with his own progressive hearing loss.

The company performs at Walt Disney Concert Hall before embarking on a European tour in Barcelona, Paris and London.
