LOS ANGELES — The city of Los Angeles' animal shelters are struggling with overcrowding and reports of staffing shortages and rising euthanasia rates.
The resignation of LA Animal Services General Manager Staycee Dains has added to the challenges, although the city says it has seen progress with 25,000 live outcomes this year.
Nonprofit Best Friends Animal Society, through its No-Kill LA Adoption center, is helping by fostering large breed dogs, medical cases and kittens to prevent animals from being euthanized due to space limitations.
