Robert Santos is the chief meteorologist for Spectrum News 1 SoCal, a role he’s proudly held since the network’s launch in 2018.

Viewers rely on him for accurate, accessible forecasts during his weekday Weather On the 1s segments, and for his in-depth coverage of environmental issue — including hosting two Spectrum News Earth Day specials. His standout special, The Trickle-Down Effect, explored the critical topic of water and drought in California.

With more than 20 years of experience as a meteorologist, reporter, and anchor, Robert has worked in diverse climates and news environments, from San Diego to Seattle, Las Vegas to Monterey/Salinas. His reporting on extreme weather from California to the Pacific Northwest included wildfires, earthquakes, floods, mudslides, and blizzards.

Robert’s work has earned multiple awards, including a Golden Mike Award for Red Flag Warning: The 'New Normal’, and honors from the LA Press Club for his contributions to Your Morning and Your Afternoon on Spectrum News 1.

A native of Guam, Robert moved to Los Angeles to attend Pepperdine University and to launch his journalism career. A pivotal moment came years later when a San Diego station offered him the chance to forecast the weather — an opportunity that sparked a deep passion and a desire to attend Mississippi State University’s Broadcast Meteorology Program, combining rigorous training with real-world expertise.

In addition to his on-air work, Robert is a seasoned emcee, having hosted numerous community events, including the American Heart Association’s Los Angeles Heart Ball, Project Concern International’s Walk for Water, Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Kick-Off Dinner, the Chamorro Cultural Festival, Pacific Islander Festival, and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Human Dignity Breakfast.

Robert has called Southern California home for over two decades. An avid nature lover and advocate for health, wellness, and the environment, he shares his adventures and insights on social media.
