Whittier is an affordable southern California neighborhood with many homes for sale below the median home price in Los Angeles County, which is $588,000 dollars.
- Whittier one of few neighborhoods with homes below median price
- Affordable homes are creating a hot housing market in the area
- Low priced homes like those found in Whittier are in high-demand
The real estate agents of Angel and Patty Real Estate had no trouble generating interest in a four-bedroom, two-bath home on sale for $545,000 dollars.
“Most of the homes in Whittier are very similar to this one with the open space and nice layout,” said Donna Landaverde. “Whittier is a hot, hot market for us.”
The market is hot because it’s more affordable than other neighborhoods. The median home price in Whittier is just over $568,000 dollars. That’s compared to nearly $593,000 in Long Beach and just over $826,000 in Pasadena.
Homes like this one are in high demand.
“We put it up on a Thursday and we had offers already on a weekend and we sold it by Monday,” said agent Patty Hernandez. “So it didn’t last very long.”
While the list price was $545,000 dollars, it’s now under contract at a price above asking.
