OXNARD, Calif. - Amtrak is offering free rides to children of families taking the train to the California Strawberry Festival in Oxnard this weekend.

The festival partner is extending a special kids ride free discount to festival-goers that will be valid for one free child (ages 2-12) per every full fare adult ticket purchased. 

Kids headed to the festival with their families can ride free on the Pacific Surfliner between San Diego and San Luis Obispo only. The Surfliner offers service to Oxnard five times daily on the coastal route, which covers 351 miles between San Diego and San Luis Obispo. 

Festival-goers who disembark at the Oxnard Transportation Center will be met by complimentary "Strawberry Express" shuttle service offering transportation to and from the festival.

Shuttle service will run continuously throughout the festival weekend.

The 36th Annual California Strawberry Festival will run Saturday through Monday at Strawberry Meadows of College Park, 3250 South Rose Avenue, in Oxnard.
