LOS ANGELES (CNS) — The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County decreased for the 61st consecutive day Sunday since rising to a record, dropping two-tenths of a cent to $5.397, its lowest amount since March 6.

The average price has dropped $1.065 since rising to a record high of $6.462 on June 14, including six-tenths of a cent Saturday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.

It is 9.8 cents less than one week ago and 66.3 cents lower than one month ago, but $1.005 more than one year ago.

The Orange County average price dropped for the 60th time in the last 61 days, decreasing four-tenths of a cent to $5.284, its lowest amount since March 5. It was unchanged Friday, ending a 58-day streak of decreases in which it fell $1.105, then fell 1.5 cents Saturday.

The Orange County average price is 9.6 cents less than one week ago and 66.5 cents lower than one month ago, but 92.2 cents more than one year ago.

The national average price dropped for the 61st consecutive day since rising to a record, falling six-tenths of a cent to $3.959. It has dropped $1.057 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14.

The national average price is 11 cents less than one week ago and 64.6 cents lower than one month ago, but 77.4 cents more than one year ago.
