INGLEWOOD, Calif. – It has been months since the Chargers played a game on their home field, but now that they are back in Southern California the team wasted no time getting in the holiday spirit.

The Chargers continued one of their favorite annual traditions by surprising some hard-working students at Bennet-Kew Elementary School in Inglewood.

Chargers players made the trip to the school to surprise over 100 students, who took part in an essay competition to win free bikes.

Third grader Aryah Williams, was shocked when she learned she was going home with a new pair of wheels.

"It teaches me that you need to go to school to achieve your dreams and become what you want to be when you grow up," said Aryah.

Joined by Inglewood Mayor James Butts and the California Resources Cooperation, the team delivered a message emphasizing hard work in school.

This is the fifteenth year the Chargers have partnered with the Bikes for Kids foundation to deliver bikes to deserving students.

The Chargers (5-8) host the Minnesota Vikings (9-4) on Sunday, December 15.
