President Joe Biden traveled to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland on Wednesday for his annual routine physical, the White House announced Wednesday morning, before releasing a summary of the results later in the afternoon.

When asked earlier Wednesday following the exam if there's anything the American people should know about his physical, Biden, 81, joked: "They think I look too young,"

"There is nothing different than last year," he added. "Everything's great."

The results of Biden's checkup will no doubt be closely watched as the incumbent Democrat gears up for a reelection battle in November. Wednesday's pysical will be his last regular physical exam before the election.

During his most recent annual physical, which took place in mid-February of last year, Biden was declared “healthy, vigorous” and “fit” to handle his White House responsibilities. Dr. O'Connor, who has treated Biden since 2009 when he was vice president, wrote in a summary that he "remains a healthy, vigorous 80-year-old male, who is fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency."

When asked by reporters if Biden underwent a cognitive or mental fitness test  in the wake of special counsel Robert Hur's report which called the president's memory and mental acuity into question  White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre responded that "the doctor doesn't believe he needs one ... including the neurologist, doesn't believe that needs one."

She went on to contend that "the president passes a cognitive test every day, every day, as he moves from one topic to another topic, understanding the granular level of these topics ... we have to keep that in mind. This is a very rigorous job and the president has been able to do this job every day for the past three years."

"His doctors, including the neurologist, do not believe that he needs one," she later reiterated. "That is their assessment."

Jean-Pierre said that Dr. O'Connor was "happy with how everything went."
