LOS ANGELES  – Many students gathered in Pershing Square Friday to protest and spread the word about climate change.

Yasmeen Tsipena, 17, is a high school senior.

She goes to the International School of Los Angeles in Burbank. She helped convince her friends to show up to the Youth Climate Strike.

“We’re working so hard in school and we’re trying so hard to get into college, but at the end of the day there’s no point if we’re not even going to have a future to live at all,” said Yasmine.

Yasmine said her parents let her skip school. This is her second environmental protest.

She's applying to colleges now with plans to study climate science. However, while her high school career ends next year, her fight for the planet may only be just beginning.
