RICHMOND, Ky. – Travel back in time with a trip Fort Boonesborough State Park in Richmond, Kentucky this weekend. You and your family will get a chance to experience Kentucky life in the 18th Century.
You can see what it was like to churn butter, grind corn and witness a series of other pioneer skills. Kids will get a chance to see what life was like for pioneer children. There will also be a puppet show featuring Punch and Judy and a demonstration on falconry.
Hands on History for Kids will take place September 7 and September 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m each day.
Attendance is free with paid park admission, which is $8 for adults and $5 dollars for children ages 6 to 12. Children that are under 6 and under get in for free.
Fort Boonesborough State Park marks the site of a fort built by Daniel Boone and other settlers in 1775 along the Kentucky River. The state park near Richmond has a reconstructed fort, a campground, hiking trails, mini-golf, picnic shelters and a gift shop.
