LOS ANGELES, CA – A new ride-sharing service is offering unlimited rides with a low price for residents of Orange County.

  • OC Flex offering cheap rides
  • Unlimited rides for $5 a day
  • Saving locals money for commutes

Alex Madrid spends his time and saves his treasure to be the best dad he can be to his two-year-old daughter Aviana.

“It’s the best thing in the world, can’t change it for anything,” he said.

So when the father heard about Orange County’s very own ride-share service, OC Flex, he saw it as a way for him to save minutes, and money.

“I love the flexibility of it, I love the easiness of the app,” Madrid said.

OC Flex is Orange County Transportation Authority’s new shuttle service serving two zones in Orange County. The service includes parts of Huntington, Westminster, and parts of south Orange County.

Residents get unlimited rides for just $5 a day, or $4.50 with the app.

“Compared to a $22 Uber, five times 20 days I work, versus $17 time 20 days it’s a huge help,” Madrid said.

With a hefty work commute from Highland to Aliso Viejo, Madrid said he cut his commuting costs by 75 percent.

Madrid takes the train every day to Orange County. OC Flex drivers pick him up from the train station, and takes him to work.

“I’m at Flame Broiler just going to have my lunch, pick it up and go back to work,” said Madrid.

Then it takes him to lunch in the afternoon, and back to the train at the end of the day. Madrid uses OC Flex at least four times a day.

“Mortgage, bills all that adds up on top of commuting,” said Madrid. “We can go to Disneyland more often, we’re going to have a nicer Christmas this year."

The value of more time with Aviana and money to take care of her is priceless.
