GARDEN GROVE, Calif. — Bracken’s Kitchen, a Garden Grove-based nonprofit, is stepping up its effort to feed Orange County’s most vulnerable population during the coronavirus pandemic. Chef Bill Bracken and his team are working on producing more meals, hiring skilled cooks who lost their jobs due to restaurant closures and are raising money to help their mission to serve the underserved community. 

“My heart and prayers goes out to each and every person whose life is being completely turned upside down by this invisible virus,” said Bill Bracken, Founder of Bracken’s Kitchen.

Chef Bracken founded Bracken’s Kitchen in 2013 and now prepares thousands of meals each week for local homeless and needy families. Prior to starting his nonprofit, Bracken spent 25 years cooking at five-star luxury hotels for big Hollywood stars.

On Sunday night, the Bracken’s Kitchen team got a call from a local family who has stepped up to help the nonprofit feed even more people in need in the form of a $100,000 matching grant.

We’re ramping up meal production to 25,0000 meals a week. We know it’s a trying time for everyone, yet we have to try to maximize that $100,000 matching grant so that we can turn it into a $200,000 grant. “We were left in tears when we heard that, because there is so much good and positive during these trying times,” said Chef Bracken.

The nonprofit is ramping up meal production to 25,000 meals a week. 

“I have to put this out here and give everyone the opportunity for everyone who is able to donate to help us maximize that $100,000 grant and turn it into a $200,000 grant,” said Bracken.

The matching grant starts Monday, March 23, and goes to Friday, March 27.
