HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — Winter Wonderland is returning to Surf City with a publicly accessible sheet of ice open to skating enthusiasts.

The temporary ice rink, located at Pier Plaza, is possible because of an ongoing partnership with Ice-America. Together, they will give locals a chance to lace up at the base of the city’s historic Huntington Beach Pier. Tickets for access to the rink will cost $22 per skater.

Ice-America boasts a 25-year record on its website with an annual operation of 600 temporary rinks.

“What a joy to welcome back this festive, family-friendly event here in Huntington Beach,” said Mayor Barbara Delgleize. “I encourage everyone to come downtown and join us for this unique Surf City experience.”

The ice rink is an added sweetener to bring locals and visitors to the city’s commerce center, replete with shops gussied up for the holiday season. That includes The Surf City Artisan Fair, which springs up every Friday until Dec. 16.

The ice rink is part of the atmosphere and includes partners and sponsors, such as the Anaheim Ducks and the Shorebreak Hotel.

The rink opens Nov. 18 and will be open through Jan. 8. It will be open from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The hours Sunday will be 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
