LOS ANGELES — The heavy winter rains have brought exponential vegetation growth, which will become future potential fuel for wildfires.

The Fire Watch symposium in Irvine gave the community a chance to hear the latest information regarding wildfire preparedness.

An approaching El Niño warming pattern could also add to the drying out of vegetation.

At the symposium, teen inventor Ryan Honary presented his AI-driven sensor network system, which he hopes will be a robust early detection and warning system that could help in the fight against wildfires.
