CASTAIC, Calif. — Containment on the Route Fire burning near the 5 Freeway in the Castaic area has grown to 90%. Firefighters from the U.S. Forest service with help from the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported progress as they battled the fire that has charred 464 acres.

"Today, aircraft and ground crews will seek opportunities to go directly at the fire and build containment," Angeles National Forest officials said.

Firefighters were battling the fire using ground and air resources, including water-dropping helicopters, Klein said.

"Yesterday, crews and aircraft had a very successful day building containment," read a tweet from Angeles National Forest on Tuesday.
