RANCHO PALOS VERDES, Calif. — Saturated soil in parts of the Palos Verdes Peninsula has been moving. And now there’s more rain in the forecast.

This led to the voluntary closure of the Wayfarers Chapel, a national historic landmark.

Officials say damage due to land movement and storms to the chapel and surrounding building and grounds “has accelerated in the past year, especially.”

The chapel has started a fundraiser to help pay for restoration work.

We also spoke with a local in Abalone Cove about some of the mother nature-related damages in the area.
