LOS ANGELES — A section of the Harbor (110) Freeway near downtown is scheduled to reopen Sunday morning after being closed overnight while Caltrans crews continued working on the demolition of an out-of-service pedestrian bridge.
The entire southbound 110 Freeway between the Santa Monica (10) Freeway and Exposition Boulevard and the entire northbound 110 Freeway between Adams and Washington boulevards were shut down at 11 p.m. Saturday for the Caltrans project.
This followed the closure of the three outer lanes of the southbound 110 Freeway between the Santa Monica (10) Freeway and Exposition Boulevard. All onramps to the southbound freeway were also closed along with the connector ramps from the 10 Freeway, which reopened at 7 a.m. Saturday.
During the full freeway closure, southbound motorists were diverted at the 10 Freeway interchange, reentering the freeway at either Exposition or Martin Luther King Jr. boulevards. Northbound motorists were forced off at Adams and reentered at Washington.
The closures allowed crews to demolish the defunct pedestrian bridge over the 110 Freeway at 21st Street.
Motorists can get up-to-date information on the project at the Caltrans Quickmap website, https://quickmap.dot.ca.gov.
