LOS ANGELES — Travelers between Los Angeles and Las Vegas now have another option. The global chauffeur company, Blacklane, announced this week that it would offer a new service with professional drivers between the two cities.
Billed as an alternative to short-haul flights in vehicles that can accommodate as many as five travelers, depending on the car, rides are available in luxury sedans, business vans and SUVs and start at about $900.
While a one-way flight between LA and Las Vegas costs about $100, Blacklane says its rides are more affordable than flying because they can be shared and more convenient because they offer more flexible travel times than flying.
All rides have a fixed fare that includes taxes, tolls and tips. Trips include 60 minutes of wait time for airport pickups and 15 minutes for other points of origin, as well as a meet-and-greet with the driver, free cancellation until 24 hours before pickup and, depending on the vehicle, luggage for most passengers. Trips can be booked through the Blacklane app or website.
“We are strategically investing in important and popular long-distance routes across several markets to diversify our business model and expand into new sectors,” Blacklane co-founder and CEO Dr. Jens Wohltorf said in a statement.
Blacklane’s expansion connecting Las Vegas and LA is one of 98 new routes the Berlin-based chauffeur service announced this week. The company, which operates in 50 countries, also runs city-to-city routes connecting LA with Palm Springs, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Disneyland in Anaheim, as well as multiple routes connecting New York City and Fort Lauderdale with popular destinations up to about 200 miles away.
Globally, Blacklane offers 127 city-to-city routes in countries such as the UK, France, Italy, Australia and Thailand.
