BLYTHE, Calif. (CNS) — Eastbound Interstate 10 was completely open Sunday after a four-day partial closure due to last week’s flooding, the California Highway Patrol announced.

A stretch of the eastbound freeway was flooded east of Corn Springs Road at approximately 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, prompting closure of all eastbound lanes. Westbound lanes were unaffected.

A single eastbound lane was opened Thursday, offering some relief. But drivers were still faced with delays on I-10 east of Highway 177 near Desert Center. Road closures began east of Indio.

“The California Department of Transportation, along with the California Highway Patrol, worked throughout the weekend and were able to repair Interstate 10,” the CHP said.

Construction was still ongoing and authorities asked drivers to watch their speed and be aware of Caltrans workers in the area.
