LOS ANGELES (CNS) — Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority will begin enforcing left-hand turn traffic rules Monday with the aid of cameras at several train crossings along Crenshaw Boulevard in Los Angeles.
Motorists “who disobey traffic signals and operate vehicles in an illegal manner” at specific intersections on Crenshaw Boulevard between West 59th Street and 48th Street East that are equipped with surveillance cameras will receive citations in the mail, with fines beginning at $100 plus penalties and assessments, according to Metro.
The intersections where traffic laws will be enforced with the aid of cameras are:
- Southbound Crenshaw Boulevard left turn to 48th Street East
- Southbound Crenshaw Boulevard left turn to 52nd Street East
- Northbound Crenshaw Boulevard left turn to 52nd Street West
- Southbound Crenshaw Boulevard left turn to 54th Street East
- Northbound Crenshaw Boulevard left turn to 54th Street West
- Northbound Crenshaw Boulevard left turn to 57th Street West
- Southbound Crenshaw Boulevard left turn to 59th Street East
- Northbound Crenshaw Boulevard left turn to 59th Street West
- Southbound Crenshaw Boulevard left turn to Slauson Avenue East
- Northbound Crenshaw Boulevard left turn to Slauson Avenue West
The surveillance cameras will capture photos and videos of motorists who disobey the traffic laws, and the citations will be issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The traffic enforcement comes after an 11-month period where the LASD issued warning letters in lieu of fines to motorists who violated traffic laws, according to Metro.
