For years, it was only a small handful of automakers that offered electric vehicles. But that's changing. This fall marks the beginning of a new crop of EVs that run the gamut from crossovers to pickup trucks to SUVs, many of which will be available for consumers to see up close and in person through Drive Electric Week.

5 things you should know:

  1. Drive Electric Week is a series of events designed to educate consumers about battery-powered and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles.
  2. This year's Drive Electric Week takes place Sept. 25 through Oct. 3.
  3. In Southern California, events will take place in Huntington Beach, Irvine, Encinitas, Catalina Island and San Diego, as well as the Inland Empire.
  4. Activities vary by location and event, but many offer displays of new EVs, as well as test drives and exhibits about EV chargers.
