LOS ANGELES — Days after a fire damaged a 2-mile stretch of the 10 Freeway, trucker Edward Hernandez is tasked with delivering construction materials that will be used to repair the freeway, but not before enduring a traffic nightmare. Hernandez spends up to 10 hours a day, driving up and down Interstate 10 every week.

His drive on Monday took longer than expected. Hernandez is one of more than 300,000 commuters that pass through the shutdown portion of the 10 Freeway. Drivers just like Hernandez are looking for other alternatives to get to their destination.
