Angelenos searched for “gas prices near me” more than twice as often in 2022 than they did in 2021, according to Google’s new list of top local searches for the year. Following are the top 10 trending “near me” searches for LA, according to Google Trends:

The LA area was the only place in the nation with “free PCR test” in its top trending “near me” searches, Google found. It was also the only place in the country with “arepas” as the No. 1 trending recipe.
Pallas cat was the LA’s area top trending animal. Rap was the area’s most searched music genre.
Nationally, Wordle ranked first for most searches, following by election results, Betty White, Queen Elizabeth and Bob Saget.

Johnny Depp was the most searched actor, followed by Will Smith, Amber Heard, Chris Rock and Julia Fox. Antonio Brown was the most searched athlete, followed by Serena Williams, Joe Burrow, Aaron Judge and Manti Te’o.
Adam Levine was the most searched musician, followed by Mary J. Blige, Lil Tjay, Kendrick Lamar and Migos.
“Encanto” was the most searched movie, followed by “Thor: Love and Thunder,” “Top Gun: Maverick,” “The Batman” and “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” “Euphoria” was the most searched TV show, followed by “Stranger Things,” “The Watcher,” “Inventing Anna” and “House of the Dragon.”
