Los Angeles will host Super Bowl LXI in 2027, the NFL announced Wednesday. The game will be played at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.

“We are very excited to bring the Super Bowl back to Los Angeles for the second time in five years,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. “The city did an outstanding job hosting Super Bowl 56 in the incredible SoFi Stadium, and we believe that Super Bowl 61 will be even more memorable.”

SoFi Stadium hosted Super Bowl LVI in 2022, which saw the LA Rams defeat the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20. Super Bowl LXI will be the ninth to be played in LA County and will mark the game’s 60-year anniversary. The first-ever Super Bowl was played at the LA Memorial Coliseum in 1967. 

“We are grateful to Commissioner Goodell and our partners at the other 31 teams for this opportunity to once again elevate our league’s biggest moment,” LA Rams Owner and Chairman E. Stanley Kroenke said in a statement.

Since opening in 2020, the indoor-outdoor SoFi Stadium is home to the NFL’s two LA teams: the Los Angeles Chargers and the Los Angeles Rams.

As part of Super Bowl LXI, the greater LA area will host a series of events as part of Super Bowl Week, including Super Bowl opening night, a Super Bowl experience and NFL honors. 

The 2022 Super Bowl generated $234 to $478 million for LA County, according to an independent study cited by SoFi Stadium. 

“The Los Angeles region continues to attract world-renowned events, and we look forward to yet again hosting the Super Bowl,” LA Mayor Karen Bass said in a statement. 

While tickets to the game are not yet available, the priority access program for Super Bowl LXI ticket packages opened Wednesday and include premium seating options, high-end food and beverage offerings and entertainment.

Super Bowl LXI will take place about a year before Los Angeles plays host to another global sporting event. LA is the site city for the 2028 Olympic Games.
