LOS ANGELES (CNS) — The Kansas City Current will be without coach Matt Potter and four players for Saturday evening’s National Women’s Soccer League game against Angel City FC at Banc of California Stadium because of coronavirus issues.

Potter did not travel with the team due to a positive COVID-19 test, while four players will not play due to coronavirus protocols, including midfielder Lo’eau LaBonta, who started each of the team’s first three regular-season games, the team announced.

The other Kansas City players who are in the coronavirus protocol are defender Hallie Mace, who has started two games, midfielder Chardonnay Curran and defender Izzy Rodriguez, who have both started once.

Mace played for UCLA from 2015-18 and was a first-team All-American selection by United Soccer Coaches in 2017.

Assistant coach Lloyd Yaxley will coach the Current (0-2-1) in the 7:30 p.m. game.

“The team is working to sign at least one player per the NWSL COVID replacement player policy,” Kansas City director of soccer communications & PR Jeff Husted told City News Service.
