INDIAN WELLS, Calif. (CNS) — Women's singles qualifying play will conclude Tuesday at the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells Tennis Garden, while men's qualifying play will begin.

All 12 winners of Tuesday's women's qualifying matches will earn spots in the 96-player main draw.

The highest-ranked and top-seeded player in the qualifying draw is Jasmine Paolini of Italy, who will face Kateryna Kozlova of Ukraine. Paolini is 63rd on the Women's Tennis Association rankings, Kozlova is 136th and seeded 15th in qualifying. The two have not previously met on the court.

Paolini defeated Natalia Vikhlyantseva of Russia, 6-1, 6-4, Monday, while Kozlova was a 6-3, 6-1 winner over Tatjana Maria of Germany.

Tuesday's winners are guaranteed at least $18,155 while the losers will receive $9,110.

Men's qualifying play begins Tuesday with 48 players seeking the 12 spots in the 96-player main draw reserved for qualifiers. Botic van de Zandschulp of the Netherlands is the highest-ranked and top-seeded player in men's qualifying.

Van de Zandschulp rose from previous career-high 117th on the Association of Tennis Professionals rankings to 62nd after advancing to the quarterfinals of last month's U.S. Open, including victories over then 11th-ranked Casper Ruud of Norway and 14th ranked Diego Schwartzman.

Van de Zandschulp lost to eventual champion Daniil Medvedev of Russia in the quarterfinals, 6-3, 6-0, 4-6, 7-5.

In his only match since the U.S. Open, van de Zandschulp defeated Francisco Llanes, 6-0, 6-3, Sept. 17, as part of the Netherlands' 4-0 victory over Uruguay in a Davis Cup World Group I match.

Van de Zandschulp has dropped to 65th in the rankings. He will face Canadian Peter Polansky on Tuesday, who is ranked 282nd. This is the first meeting between the two.

Players winning two matches in men's qualifying will advance to the main draw. Players losing in Tuesday's qualifying matches will receive $4,785, while the winners will receive at least $9,110.

Tickets are not required for admission Tuesday.

Spectators must provide valid proof of full vaccination against COVID- 19 to enter Indian Wells Tennis Garden, which is available by obtaining a digital health pass before arriving. The CLEAR Health Pass is available only to U.S. residents. The CLEAR app is available in the App Store and Google Play Store.

All spectators are required to complete their CLEAR Health Pass no less than 24 hours before arriving.

While the initial steps are required only once, the CLEAR Health Pass will expire every 24 hours. Before subsequent visits, fans need to open the CLEAR app and verify their identity with a selfie to produce the health pass.

Indian Wells Tennis Garden will use the LINK Health Pass to provide access into the venue for non-U.S. residents.

Women's main draw play is set to begin Wednesday and men's main draw play Thursday.
